I must apologize for getting this review out late. Hurricane Irene decided to leave me without Internet for a few days, so I tried to get this article posted as soon as I could. With that out of the way, let’s get to the review!

I'll give a cookie to anyone who can decipher the Engrish.

Chaos;head, or ChäoS;HEAd as it’s stylized, is a visual novel jointly produced in 2008 by famous developer Nitroplus, who were involved with this year’s top hit Madoka Magica, 2007′s Blassreiter, and the upcoming Fate/Zero , and 5pb., a record label and videogame publisher who now ports and even makes visual novels. Madhouse has also made an anime out of it (albeit a terrible one). How does the visual novel hold up though? While it starts out really interesting, showing a lot of potential with a very good initial narrative, the story gets worse and worse, eventually making the game very mediocre.

Hello everyone! For those of you not familiar with figures, Kotobukiya is a big time producer; currently, they have a line of figures called “Bishoujo Statues” that feature popular Marvel, DC, and various other famous female characters.  These figures are based on famous Japanese illustrator Shunya Yamashita’s interpretations of them.  I noticed recently that one of the upcoming figures in this line is none other than Liara T’soni from Mass Effect.  Personally, I have never bought one of the figures in this line because I don’t particularly like the way Yamashita draws faces.  But I am definitely ordering the Liara one.

So ladies and gents, this past weekend was MLG yet again in Raleigh. Many tournaments were held (4 in fact) including League of Legends, Call of Duty Black Ops, Halo Reach, and Starcraft 2. Now being the Korean I am I watched the Starcraft 2 stream and am pleased to say that the Koreans placed top 6. Now who would argue that that isn’t bad ass for the Koreans. But I digress, the top 6 were: STBomber, SlayerSCoca, coLMVPDongRaeGu, oGsNada, EG-Puma and Liquid_HerO. All Koreans…did I mention that? You can find the top 32 players here. Continue reading »

We'll all miss you very much.

Because Jack Guo will be moving out of Judge’s place tomorrow, I’ve decided to post this little comic (?). It’s based on the fact (according to Judge) that Jack seems to attract roaches and mice. For example, once when the two J’s (Judge and Jack, get it?) were walking on the street, two mice peeked out at them from the gutters. Also, we all know about the mouse that was caught at their place, right? We even had a Great Mouse Tournament to commemorate the event. As for roaches, well, whenever we find roaches in the apartment, somehow they’re always near Jack Guo. Oh Jack, we shall miss you so. Your little vermin friends, maybe not so much.

It’s 1 am. There I am in the office. Finally, after waiting all day, I can access some kind of monitor with high definition output. Curiously, I can only play in the dead of night, that’s the only time I can get a hold of this baby. I start up the PS3 and the hours pass by. The phrase “love is over” graces my screen again, but I keep going and going, slowly getting the hang of things as I desperately flail the night away. “Climb! Climb! Okay genius… How the hell do I get across this? How should I know? I’m your inner monologue, created from stress and lack of sleep.  So keep climbing! You have to brave the nightmare! But darn it man! I’m tired! Sunrise is in an hour. You got through another nightmare at least. We’ll try again later in the evening.”

Hey guys, the Inverseman here again with another review. This week Atlus’ “Catherine” is what’s on the plate. This is Atlus’ first ever original title for an HD console. At the masthead is the same team that worked on “Persona 4″, so let’s see how the company’s maiden voyage in HD waters went. Continue reading »

Hello Moar Powah! Welcome back to another edition of “Horror Hoedown Showdown.”  Sorry for last weeks’ absence; LIFE44 was moving in that weekend, so I was pretty busy.  We were planning on doing a review of F.E.A.R 3 for today’s post (if you haven’t been keeping up with our “Let’s Play” go watch it now!), but in case you haven’t been keeping up with the news, a giant hurricane is heading our way so we decided to put it off until next week.  Instead, I present to you a really cool and simple flash game called “Zombie Bites” developed by Hairy Games.  Check it out and give it a few plays; I bet you can’t beat my high score!

Looks like Shepard “imported” the wrong file.

Hello everyone! My name is SIYM, and welcome to another addition of the Mass Effect 3 Pre-Launch series!

First and foremost, the 1st week of school is in the books (no pun intended) and it went exceptionally well. I tell ya, there’s nothing like going to class knowing you’re solid on the material you’re expected to know. Needless to say, I’m in a good mood. However, that still didn’t stop my roster of educators from making sure I didn’t get too “bored” this weekend. Yup, I’ve got plenty of schoolwork to take care of before it all starts again next week so I apologize if this posting is less than substantial. Because that’s what you guys want, right? MOAR POWAH!

Anyway, this week’s Pre-Launch item comes from an article I found not too long ago and thought it would tie in nicely with all the Mass Effect hooplah I have on this site. Pretty funny I think, especially if you dislike this pairing in the game. If you want to see the rest of this progression/digression, click here and have a good time!

On a final note, the Warpath Project will not commence until November when Modern Warfare 3 launches. Just a reminder, the 6 titles I’m taking on to review and inter-critique will be MW3, AC: Revelations, Saints Row 3, The Old Republic, Mass Effect 3, and Bioshock: Infinite. Personally (shockingly) I’m biased towards Mass Effect; however, I hope to see some surprise performances and maybe a few upsets to my predictions. That’s it for now.

Welcome to my new blog-series, Manic Movie Magic (3xM for short) here on Moar Powah!, where I’m going to be looking at classic and current films, primarily of the horror, science-fiction, and fantasy genres.

So, which film is most befitting of this premiere event? None other than AFI’s number one pick for the best thriller of all time, Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho.

Instead of our regularly scheduled review I’d like to briefly discuss something big on the horizon: for those that don’t know, DC is relaunching 52 of its titles to issue #1 starting at the end of this month in what they’ve dubbed “The New 52.” I’ve decided that I will keep everyone up to date by following five of the new titles that come out: Green Arrow (he’s one of my personal favorites after all), Superman (another one of my favorites and a comic book icon), Action Comics and Detective Comics (the cornerstones of DC since back in the 30s)…and a fifth title chosen by my readers! That’s right, I’m leaving it up to all of you!

Now, with four dozen titles to choose from it’d be remiss of me to make such an open-ended poll. Instead, this week I’m going to discuss four potential titles that all look promising to me. I’ll forgo giving my preliminary thoughts on the titles I’ve already chosen, since I’ll be talking about them more in depth as they are released. Now enough ranting, onto the candidates!

Hey guys after doing my Carnival Phantasm preview (btw the second episode came out…go watch it!), I decided to put up a tribute for my favorite Fate/Stay Night character, Rider.  In case you haven’t played or seen Fate/Stay Night, Rider is really Medusa.  She’s a much moar complex character than meets the eye, and as you delve deeper into the story (and Fate/hollow ataraxia), you realize how tragic a life she had.  Anyways, there wasn’t as much fan art compared to some other characters in the series, but I found a few I really like.  Enjoy!
