Two Hello!Project Singles Still Missing from iTunes

In this new day and age, your favorite songs from across the globe are downloadable in an instant, whether legally or illegally. iTunes has been bringing international fans the best of J-Pop for a few years now, and I eagerly await for when a new single comes out to buy it and support my favorite group by buying them and then listening to them non stop for days on end. However, fans of Morning Musume and Buono are left pondering about the latest singles.

On January 25th,  Morning Musume’s Pyoko Pyoko Ultra, and Buono’s Hatsukoi Cider were set to be released on iTunes US. Many fans, including myself, were disappointed to see the day came and went without the tracks being released. So we waited and kept checking. And checking. And checking. As of this very minute, neither song is available on iTunes US. But why?

There doesn’t seem to be a dispute between iTunes and Hello!Project, since S/Mileage’s Chotto Matte Kudasai! released on Feburary 1st without any problems. No statement has been issued that I can find, and after hours of google searching, no one else seems to know what’s happened either. So what gives, iTunes? All I want to do is to buy my music legally, why must you punish me for supporting the groups I admire???

It could be that Pyoko Pyoko Ultra‘s low sales in Japan might have deterred iTunes from putting it on the US market? Maybe they just forgot? Is there some problem with the files we’re not aware of? No one knows, and while it may seem small beans to the rest of the J-Pop loving world, what’s to stop iTunes from delaying new singles or outright deleting the J-Pop already there? It’s happened before. The only reason I bring it up is because no one else seems to, except for on message boards.

So, for now, I, like many fans, will continue to wait in hopes that iTunes will get their brains in gear and post both singles so they can be enjoyed!

As just a regular, hard-working work, often-stressing, procrastination-mastering history and journalism student, I often turn to the silver and small screens for relief, even though I'm only an average cinema-and-television loving viewer, commenting on what, and does not, makes good entertainment. I love horror everything - book, TV shows, games, movies - even though they frighten me terribly. I'm a long time believer of the old saying "When life gives you lemons, don't take life's lemons! Give the lemons back!" So, onward I go, returning lemons and logging an unhealthy amount of screen time for your enjoyment. So please be sure to read my stuff and let me know what you think, I'm alway looking to improve and be the best, most cynical critic I can be!
