Mecha Monday: Moar Powah’s Writers’ Picks for Sai Mecha 2012

Judge here making a quick appearance from the dead to give his picks for Sai Mecha 2012. Fellow writers Laevatein and Kaushik have also submitted their picks. So what is Sai Mecha 2012? It’s a contest that was started last year by ExecutiveOtaku of THAT Anime Blog. Basically, people submit their 10 favorite mecha. The 32 mecha with the most nominations will be put into a randomized bracket and split into the Earth Side and Colonies Side. Then the chaos ensues. Big thanks to Kuro for informing me about this. Review: The Cabin in the Woods

(A.k.a. check out Laevatein as he makes a fool out of himself reviewing a movie for the first time!)

Euclid would be crying if he saw this cabin... then he'd probably come back as some sort of horror movie monster.

The Cabin in the Woods is a really interesting movie. Produced and co-written by the venerated Joss Whedon, and directed and co-written by Drew Goddard, the movie examines the horror movie genre. Specifically, it explores how involved the audience experiences and interacts with horror films. At the same time, it subverts everything with the horror genre. Though it seems ambitious, does it wind up being any good?
