Hello everyone and welcome to another exciting fantastic feast — or in this case, a fantastic failure. I mean. It happens, we all know that but I was hoping for nothing but family support instead of family greed that pretty much sped this project towards its doom.

So what was it that I was up to that ended up in a less-than-stellar recipe fail? Well, in the spirit of giving and I tried to make a batch of cookies to give out to my friends during the holidays, but alas, meddlesome families will be meddlesome families and they will end up eating all of the product before it actually, you know, manages to get to the photoshoot. But hey, at least they’d do old Larfleeze proud with their greedy fingers – which leads us to what I was trying to make in the first place: Larfleeze’s Christmas special cookies!

What a year for anime 2012 was. There was a lot of bad, but a whole lot of good, and I was drawn in this year more than most. So, now, let’s discuss which ones made the top of my list this year!

12. Magi

This anime is only on here because it’s the least terrible of the terrible anime I’ve seen this year. The best of the worst if you will. And the reason for this is because when it’s good, it soars. When it’s bad, it’s awful. But I love the art style and character designs, and I think that it could have been a great show with a better script. As it stands, it’s fine, but it’s a real shame seeing as it had so much potential.

Now for a game that isn’t a “social RPG” with a DLC cash shop.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, Capcom’s real tribute for Megaman’s  25th anniversary is here, by giving their full backing to Singaporean doujinshi programmer Seow Zhong Hui so he could create Street Fighter X Mega Man. So is this independent fan game good enough to be a “real Megaman title?” Let’s find out.

Another year, another “Ani-Bloggers Choice Anime Awards.” You can check out my picks for 2011, and you can also check out Kaushik and Pluffei’s 2012 picks as well. Like last year, I will rank these shows based on how entertained I was, not how “good” they are. Here we go!

12. Campione!

Generic harem anime? Definitely. But it’s still quite entertaining. The beginning is awfully rushed (dedicated readers of the light novels were severely disappointed), and a lot is left to be desired. Yet it’s mythology based (which I like) and has hot girls. Good enough. Continue reading »

You aren’t a critic worth your salt if you haven’t seen the majority of Quentin Tarantino’s films, even the not-so-great ones. He is one of the most prolific directors of this generation, who mixes a love of high brow cinema with some more “vulgar” sensibilities, making his films a unique brand of storytelling that is engaging, but hard to emulate. So, when it was time to pick a movie to watch on Christmas Day, the choice was obvious.

So let’s sit back, relax, and spend this merry little holiday watching people running around in period clothes and with blood flying everywhere. This is Django Unchained.

Jeff Lemire is one of my favorite modern comic creators. I’ve loved his work on Animal Man and am eagerly anticipating his upcoming work as author of Green Arrow. Recently, I had the opportunity to interview this stellar comic creator. Read on for the exciting, in-depth interview!

It’s hard to put my finger on why exactly I enjoy the concept of Haunt so much. Is it my interest in ghosts? The wild, unpredictable action? Or perhaps its the fact that I have an older brother? Regardless of reasoning, Haunt is a series I’ve found enjoyable since I first picked it up. Sadly, the quality dipped a bit in Volume 3. A new creative team consisting of Joe Casey and Nathan Fox took over with Volume 4, however, so I decided to keep the faith. Could a new direction reinvigorate this series which lost its way?

Who am I? No one important, so you may be forgiven for not giving a damn about my game preferences and experiences. But that, unfortunately, is the dilemma I find myself in. As I’m merely amateur, I can’t expect a wide circle of fans and followers to be willfully expecting a grand personal declaration of what I fancied throughout the last twelve months, but I’m also not professional enough to have played every major game of the year and thus write an official “Best Of 2012″ post without having personal bias interwoven. I decided to go with the former, so excuse me for my regrettable lack of fame. I hope I make some recommendations that you wouldn’t have thought to tried.

Yes, there are certain genres that I willfully dismissed this year, as I do every year. So no, you will not find Halo 4 or FIFA 2013 simply because those aren’t games that interest me (not that I find anything wrong with people for whom they do, of course). There are also countless games that I would have loved to have gotten to but never did thanks to time or other games’ prioritization. For example, my recently acquired copy of Dishonored sits on my shelf yet to be played. It too, along with XCOM, Sleeping Dogs, Xenoblade Chronicles and a plethora of other titles will be mysteriously absent from my list because I just didn’t get to them. And for those of you hoping to see such titles on here, I apologize. Be sure to comment with your own games of the year.

And with that, we shall begin (in no particular order, mind you).

To this day, I still love my Nintendo 64. Numerous games from its amazing library stand out, but one that really captured my attention was Paper Mario. The cute and clever RPG brought me hours of fun, and I’m not ashamed to say I played through the game six times. Other games in the series followed, but I never had the chance to play another…until now. Recently, Nintendo released Paper Mario: Sticker Star for the 3DS. Could this game fill me with the same sense of enjoyment and childhood wonder as the original?

Hello everyone, it’s Laevatein, and I’m back from the dead! Or for a more mundane answer, I’m back from my hiatus. Anyway, it’s Christmas Eve, and Santa is probably still going over his list to see who’s naughty and who’s nice (he’s gotta check it twice, after all). You know the drill though, whoever’s nice gets good gifts, and whoever’s naughty gets coal (or Windows phones or whatever people consider lousy nowadays (I’m joking about the Windows phones part)). Now, as a guy who writes about games, I think talking about how morality works in games is a pretty fitting choice for a post on Christmas Eve. I mean, how much more meta can you get than Santa?
