Once in awhile, a company comes along with legions of good ideas. Right now, that company is Valiant Entertainment, publisher of X-O Manowar, Shadowman, Harbinger, Bloodshot, and Archer & Armstrong. Recently, Valiant announced they’re releasing a free game for Android and iOS devices in mid-April as a tie-in to their upcoming crossover “Harbinger Wars.” In honor of this game, every Valiant title in May will feature a variant cover based on a classic video game. Take a look at them all after the jump!
Shadowman Meets JRPG
Shadowman #7’s cover is clearly based on the classic Final Fantasy games. Given the nature of his team with their mystical powers and varied skill sets, this makes a lot of sense.
Archer & Armstrong Get DK-ified
Admittedly, Archer & Armstrong is the only Valiant series I haven’t touched. Even so, this hilarious cover inspired by the original arcade game Donkey Kong is hilarious!
Bloodshot’s Konami Code Contract
Contra is the perfect game for Bloodshot to star in, since his modus operandi is to shoot, shoot, and shoot some more!
Harbinger’s Streets are Full of Rage
The Harbinger gang is here for an all-out psionic brawl…Streets of Rage style!
X-O Manowar’s Metroid Mission
Aric’s solo space adventures would feel right at home in the Metroid universe, which is why this simple cover makes so much sense.
There you have them, Valiant’s awesome 8-Bit covers! What do you think? Are you as excited for these as I am? And if you’re not reading any Valiant series…go out to your local comic store and rectify that ASAP!
