Transformers_Spotlight_Megatron-CvrA

Greetings, pitiful fleshlings! I, the great Lord Megatron, Leader of the Decepticons, have hijacked the pitiful meatbag silverwolf’s “column.” While that fool planned to write about another inferior human known as “Green Arrow” he was unable to obtain a copy of his latest tale! Bah, exactly as I planned! The world must know of my exploits!

Zeonic Front Cover

I never owned a PS2, but I spent many hours of my middle and early high school years playing Sony’s cash cow at friends’ houses. One of the games I remember most fondly is Mobile Suit Gundam: Zeonic Front, released in early 2002 in the United States. Recently, I had a chance to replay some of the game (again, on a PS2 belonging to a friend) and this experience reminded me just how superb a mecha game it is. I realized, however, that Zeonic Front is insanely different from most mecha games out there. Today I’m here to tell you what aspects of Zeonic Front should be incorporated into future mecha games.

I love Superman, which is why an announcement of a DC animated film retelling one of my favorite stories, Superman: Brainiac by Geoff Johns, filled me with excitement. Today, the Nerdist posted a trailer for the new film titled Superman: Unbound. After watching it, I’m super excited (pun intended)! Given the high quality of DC’s animated line and the strength of the source material I’ve got high hopes for this direct-to-DVD movie. Check out the trailer below and let me know your thoughts!

Hawkeye is currently the only Marvel series I read consistently. Why? It’s frickin’ amazing! Since the first issue I’ve been hooked and excitedly crack open this book first each week its released. This time, we’re treated to a special issue focusing on both Hawkeyes (Clint and Kate) experiencing the effects of Hurricane Sandy. As someone who both lived through the hurricane, had many friends and family affected by it, and worked afterwards to help restore a local Connecticut town to normalcy, I felt this issue couldn’t be missed. Read on to find out what makes this comic special!

Time for a Thursday throwdown, because the verbal viscera is gonna fly on this week’s Moar Powah – Objection!

Silverwolf: Hello everyone! Silverwolf here with Inverseman and Tarabisu to discuss the question that’s on everyone’s minds: who will be the best starter of Pokemon Generation 6? I’ll be defending the most awesome of all: Froakie!

Inverseman: I beg to differ. Fennekin trumps all.

Tarabisu: You are both illiterate fools for Chespin is the clear choice.

Awhile back I checked out the first volume of Mark Waid’s critically acclaimed Daredevil run. This week, the opportunity finally arose for me to read the second volume in this recent take on the Man Without Fear. Given the praise layered on this series I went in with high hopes for this second installment. Continue reading »

Demon Knights has consistently been the top of my DC reading pile since it launched with the New 52. Issue #15 brought the initial run, written by Paul Cornell, to an end. Now, we’re treated to a new era courtesy of writer Robert Venditti, though long-time series artist Bernard Chang is still on board. Let’s dive into this new era of medieval DC excitement! Recently, I had the pleasure to interview Robert Venditti, writer of both Demon Knights for DC and X-O Manowar for Valiant. I’ve layered praise on Demon Knights for quite awhile, and I’m eagerly anticipating Issue #16 (released tomorrow), Venditti’s first entry in what promises to be an exciting run. Read on to find out more about Venditti’s ideas and plans for his upcoming work!

Hello everyone, silverwolf here! Today marks the premier of a new column I’ve developed called “Give It a Shot!” Basically, the purpose of this space is to talk about something I enjoy but is overlooked by most people. In this space, I (or some other writers) will try to convince you, without rambling too long, to check out whatever we’ve chosen. As few as one or as many as three writers may use this space, twice monthly, to discuss these new topics.

This time, I’ll be talking about DC’s fantasy comic series Sword of Sorcery while Fenrir is here to talk about the video game Rhythm Heaven.

Consistent fans of my column probably realize that 99% of the comics I read focus on superheroes. Recently, however, I’ve made a concious effort to read more titles and graphic novels that are “off the beaten path” so to say. One that caught my eye was The Underwater Welder, an original graphic novel by Jeff Lemire published in 2012 after several years of work. Going in, I only knew two things about it:

1. It’s written and illustrated by Jeff Lemire.

2. It’s about an underwater welder.

Other than that, I had no idea what to expect. Surprise was the name of the game as I dived into this hauntingly beautiful graphic novel.
