“Kamehameha” is a series of post where we examine various action scenes from movies, anime, and cartoons, to name a few. It’s name comes from one of the most famous special moves in Dragon Ball Z. We chose a DBZ reference because it’s the definition of an action show…minus the drawn out stare down filler.

Quick “Kamehameha.” Part of my “Batman Extravaganza.” Just two moar days until The Dark Knight Rises! Anyways, today we’ll look at Terry McGinnis aka Batman Beyond take on the Joker. Long story short, in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, the Joker returns using nanotech on Tim Drake’s body. Then, they fight.

Judge: Hello everyone, and welcome to another edition of “Objection!” I’m here with recently promoted editor Starshine, and we’re here to debate The Legend of Zelda’s claim to greatness. Starshine believes it’s slightly overrated, so I have to start by asking you WHAT!? Initial thoughts please!

Starshine: I get soooo much crap for not liking Zelda games, and as a gamer it’s probably the worst thing you can say, but I cannot deny it. I personally feel like the games are all somewhat recycled in their game play and motifs. Yes, the games are “good” (I would say okay, for most) but they aren’t all these fantastic, mind-blowing games everyone makes them out to be. When I first played Wind Waker, I was actually disappointed.

Today’s “Kamehameha” will be looking at a scene from the Batman: The Brave and the Bold episode “Battle of the Superheroes!” After talking about armored batsuits and Brave and the Bold in my last “Batman Extravaganza” post, I remembered this episode. Superman turns temporarily evil due to red kryptonite in this episode. In order to fight Superman, Batman dons some heavy armor. Take a look at the full fight below:

You know, I was thinking about Avatar: The Last Airbender and how the terrible M. Night Shyamalan movie nearly destroyed it all. It was the biggest cinematic-adaptation flop since…well, since Eragon. God, remember that catastrophe? I certainly do. Which brings up the question: Which one was worse?

And not just a terrible movie, but a terrible film overall – an affront to our favorite series and our senses. It’s not going to be easy but someone’s gotta do it. So let’s compare: The Last Airbender v. Eragon.

Hey all, E3 has come and gone, and the staff has their thoughts. We’ll be addressing a few questions:

1) Of the Big 3, who “won?”

2) What games are you looking forward to? What surprised or interested you the most?

3) What games disappointed you? What games had you wished you seen moar of?

Make sure you check out Laevatein’s recaps of Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo. Also check out some podcasts by Kidd and Gaming Unwrapped. Continue reading »

I’ll eat my hat if someone, especially some teenage kid, has not suggested “who would win in a fight between Link and Lloyd Irving”. I’ll eat it, right here, man. It’s only natural.

There’s a wide list of games we’re looking forward to as “next-gen”. Some don’t seem to be coming anytime soon, like FFXIII Versus and others are so far flung into the future that we only have a tentative name. Tonight, the brand-spanking new Smash Bros. is on our plate of future-ware so let’s sink our teeth in.

Judge: Welcome to the latest edition of “Objection!” It’s been a while, and this one is coming out a day late due to me being extremely tired yesterday (and pondering about the NBA Finals). Today Silverwolf and I will be talking about which summer comic movie will be the most “successful. This is also part of my “Batman Extravaganza.” Let’s begin. As you should know, The Avengers has released to critical acclaim and huge fan support. And it’s already grossed 1.4 billion dollars. I don’t know if the The Dark Knight Rises can match it.

So I was looking at the line up for the big blockbusters of the summer as is my job on this here lovely site, and I realized something. There are no big horror thrillers coming out this summer. And no, Prometheus doesn’t count. Now, you might think nothing of it, might not have even noticed it, but not even really cheesy bad horror movies have come out in the theater which is a surprise. Movies make the most money during the summer, and besides October, the summer time is where the most of big names pull out their “scariest” flicks. So, what the Hell Hollywood? Where my scary movies at?

Maybe I should be glad we're not getting one of these?

For the longest time, I’ve never given PlayStation Plus much thought.  Sure, they advertised free games for the service, but after giving up on the Xbox, paid online services seemed abhorrent.  At one time or another, I thought that the ability to play console games online was a premium service that was well worth the cost.  Later on I realized I can get almost the same experience on just about every other gaming device, but for free.  Subscription fees just for the ability to play games online seemed rather silly.  As you can imagine, I remained determined not to spend a dime on any sort of subscription service.

However, while watching the E3 2012 Sony conference, I realized there may be some pretty good incentives to try out PS Plus.  With titles like Infamous 2, Just Cause 2, and LittleBigPlanet 2 offered for free, I decided to try the service.  While I probably would’ve bought Infamous 2 if it never went up for free, I never would’ve bothered giving Just Cause 2 or LittleBigPlanet 2 a chance.  And that would’ve been a damned shame, as I’m finding Just Cause 2 to be insanely fun.  I can do crazy shit like attach a car to a helicopter, fly high up, swing it around, and fling it.  And to think, were it not for PS Plus, I would’ve missed out on this title.
