shizue-nendoroid-1

Look who’s joining Good Smile Company’s nendoroid line! It’s Shizue (Isabelle in the English version) from Animal Crossing: New Leaf! This super cute nendoroid is up for pre-order now and will be released this October. Also, make sure to check out Inverseman’s thoughts about the applications of social media in New Leaf.

EDIT: Check out this video by Nintendo featuring Isabelle! In it, she reveals a new show called “Inside the Treehouse,” which will start airing tomorrow on the official Nintendo Facebook page and Isabelle’s Twitter. The show will give players more insight on New Leaf up until the launch.

snow-mikus

Every year since 2010, Good Smile Company releases a Winter-themed Snow Miku nendoroid. 2013, however, was the first time fans designed and voted on the final product (that shiromuku is so cute). 2014 will give fans another opportunity to design a Miku. Straight from Mamitan’s blog:

The design for Snow Miku’s outfit must also include a magical staff, as no magical girl is complete without her trusty staff! We look forward to seeing everyone’s lovely design ideas!

However the outfit is not the only thing we’re looking for this time! We’re also looking for the design of Magical Girl Snow Miku’s pet! The pet should also have a snowy, crystal or Winter theme, and should be based on an animal found in Hokkaido. We hope to see many cute and creative pets for Snow Miku 2014!

So there you have it. You can read more about the rules and how to enter on Mamitan’s blog. Although I will mention here that the deadline for entries is 13 May 2013 at 16:00JST.

Here are the entry galleries for the outfit and pet designs:

fan built bot poll

As anyone who reads follows “Silverwolf’s Den” can tell, I’m a Transformers fan. That’s why I was excited to hear about Hasbro’s Fan Built Bot Poll. For the first time ever, Transformers fans have a chance to vote for the specifics of a new character who will receive an action figure and a comic in the near future. The categories include Faction (Autobot vs. Decepticon), Alernate Mode, Weapon, Color Scheme, and Personality. I’m personally voting for a Decepticon Construction vehicle who wields a Sword, is Red & Black, and has a Valiant persona. Voting is allowed once per day and is open until May 5th! You can vote and find out more here.

The character itself will be released in 2014 to honor the 30th anniversary of the Transformers franchise.

Hello readers of Moar Powah! To celebrate the holidays (and with today being 12/12/12), the staff and I have decided to hold a holiday giveaway! What will we be giving away? A Cheerful Japan Tachikoma Nendoroid! If you’re a fan of Ghost in the Shell, you’ll definitely like this little figure. It’s got special Cheerful Japan accessories like pom-poms and banners; this Tachikoma and other Cheerful Japan nendoroid were sold to support the Tsunami relief efforts from a year ago.

“Enough with the boring stuff! How do I win?”

It’s quite simple. Simply tell us your most memorable/funny/awesome holiday moment, and we’ll pick out our favorite one. Anyone in the world can participate, as long as you speak English. Only one entry per person is allowed, and to help ensure this we’ll need you to include your name and address in your message. Entries will be accepted until 12:00 AM EST on January 1st, 2013. We’ll announce a winner on January 10th, 2013, and then we’ll follow up with the lucky person to finalize details.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. Please submit entries to contact.moarpowah[at]gmail.com. Good luck to everyone, and happy holidays!

Another Monday, another edition of “Mecha Monday.” I apologize for the M.I.A. status of this column in recent weeks; however, it’s here once again. Today, I’ll be featuring an amazing stop motion video of some 3rd party Transformers toys. The “Might Hercules” series by TFC Toys are basically the Constructicons. In case you’re wondering where you can purchase these wonderful 3rd party Transformers, head on over to BigBadToyStore or TFSource. I also did a piece on the “Causality” Insecticons by Fansproject a while ago. Without further ado, here’s the stop motion video by Harris Loureiro.

Time for a figure preview! This lovely beauty is Velvet from the game Odin Sphere, which by the way, is a great game. She’s part of Yamato’s SIF EX line. She’s been released before, and I missed the opportunity to snag her when she was on sale for around 4k yen. I was kicking myself for not getting her, as she’s a great figure. Lucky me that Yamato decided to re-release her. Look forward to her this December. She’ll make a great Christmas present :) Gallery below. Continue reading »

The people over at Anime News Network have teamed up with FUNimation to give people a chance at winning a free Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt DVD before it hits store shelves July 10th. Four (4) lucky winners will receive a copy of the DVD set, while one lucky grand prize winner will receive the DVD, as well as a poster signed by the Japanese cast. Last week at E3, Atlus announced that it has plans to publish Code of Princess, an “action RPG brawler” in North America this fall. This is a very unique hybrid RPG, much like Theatrhythm Final Fantasy is a unique RPG rhythm game.

Developed by members of the team that produced Guardian Heroes for the Sega Saturn, Code of Princess features four playable characters in the game’s singleplayer mode, but also lets you play as enemies and even villagers in its multiplayer mode. You can either battle with your friends or against them via local online or Nintendo’s online network. Continue reading »

With the French Open Women’s Finals in the books (LIFE44 was very happy that Maria Sharapova won), I decided to make a short post about a pair of FAULT!! figures in the Skytube line by Alpha Max. What is FAULT!! you ask? FAULT!! is an eroge illustrated by the famous Tony Taka. Like the name suggests, one of the main elements of the eroge is tennis. So there’s the connection to the French Open :P Continue reading »
