Hello all! On August 27th I had the pleasure to attend ComiCONN, a fairly new comic convention in Stamford, Connecticut. In its second year, ComiCONN promised to be a convention by the fans, for the fans. As I was still at home in Connecticut and with this venue not far from my house, there was no way I’d miss this opportunity.

ComiCONN was the smallest Con I’ve ever attended, but that’s not to say there weren’t a ton of things for me to do and check out. Numerous vendors attended, selling everything from comics to figures to original art. Given the size of the Con, I was able to check out every table, which I liked since I didn’t feel like I missed or overlooked anything. With tons of Stormtroopers from the Connecticut chapter of the 501st Legion (a group of Star Wars Cosplayers), a decent number of famous names in attendance, and replicas of R2-D2 and Luke’s Landspeeder on display, the event was sure to be amazing!

September is already here, and Fall is upon us. Time flies...

Hello Moar Powah! It’s been a while since I last made an update. Last weekend Hurricane Irene came through town.  Laevatein lost internet and posted a day later, and Jack was delayed in moving out (he was supposed to move out Monday as detailed in “Guoventures #1″ but didn’t move out until today).  Thankfully, that was the worst that happened.  On a side note, I’ll make sure to do a double “Mecha Monday” post next week due to me missing the previous post because of the hurricane.  Anyways, as you might have noticed, things are really picking up on the site! We’ve picked up a few moar writers, and hopefully, we can start bringing you regular daily content even with the fall semester starting (a list of running articles can be found here). Last month was a good start, but we can do better! I’m shooting for 100 posts, double that of last month. For those of you who have stuck by us since the start, I can’t thank you enough! It’s been 6 months and 60,000+ views since I started this site.  It’s gone through several redesigns (check out the brand new “Meet the Staff” page!), and you can bet it will probably be going through a few moar. Nonetheless, this will be the same old site you all love. Thanks again!

Looks like Shepard “imported” the wrong file.

Hello everyone! My name is SIYM, and welcome to another addition of the Mass Effect 3 Pre-Launch series!

First and foremost, the 1st week of school is in the books (no pun intended) and it went exceptionally well. I tell ya, there’s nothing like going to class knowing you’re solid on the material you’re expected to know. Needless to say, I’m in a good mood. However, that still didn’t stop my roster of educators from making sure I didn’t get too “bored” this weekend. Yup, I’ve got plenty of schoolwork to take care of before it all starts again next week so I apologize if this posting is less than substantial. Because that’s what you guys want, right? MOAR POWAH!

Anyway, this week’s Pre-Launch item comes from an article I found not too long ago and thought it would tie in nicely with all the Mass Effect hooplah I have on this site. Pretty funny I think, especially if you dislike this pairing in the game. If you want to see the rest of this progression/digression, click here and have a good time!

On a final note, the Warpath Project will not commence until November when Modern Warfare 3 launches. Just a reminder, the 6 titles I’m taking on to review and inter-critique will be MW3, AC: Revelations, Saints Row 3, The Old Republic, Mass Effect 3, and Bioshock: Infinite. Personally (shockingly) I’m biased towards Mass Effect; however, I hope to see some surprise performances and maybe a few upsets to my predictions. That’s it for now.

This past weekend Jack, pluffei, and I caught a mouse in my apartment.  Props to Jack for stunning the mouse.  How did he do it?  Well long story short, the mouse, which was about 2.5 inches long, ran behind some of Jack’s text books.  Jack gave a powerful kung-fu kick to the books stunning the mouse and possibly breaking some of its bones.  From there it was pretty easy to pick it up, put in a bag, and then take it outside.  This whole ordeal gave me the idea of a “Great Mouse Tournament,” which would pit some of the most well known mice against one another.  It’s absolutely silly, but nonetheless, I still want to do it.  Alright let’s take a look at our 16 contestants and the bracket.

Gotta drink something to get work done.

This is just a quick, small update as I pull my larger articles together and work on producing content.

I found this to be one of the most satisfying TF2 videos on youtube so far.

 Awesome TF2 video.

Currently I am in the “research” phase of finding subjects and games to write about. If I were give this phase a step number, I would call it step number #3 of 4 that I need to take to prepare for writing for moarpowah. I realized that I have a huge interest in many things, like many of the writers here. I’m still sailing across the sea of discovery for things to write on, I will be producing more soon.

Some things that I will write on:

  • Team Fortress 2
  • Minecraft
  • Magic (Powers at be say otherwise for now)
  • Fables
  • American Vampire
  • Hellboy
  • Gantz
  • Berserk
  • New Hardware

Hasta luego!

Prestige Mode bitches ! ! !

Do not fear my fellow Powah players! I have ZERO intention of promoting Call of Duty through the medium of my “pre-launch” posts. However, I found this image to be mildly amusing and thought it would go along nicely with the topic at hand: Modern Warfare 3. As burned out of a former fan as I may be, I still look forward to the third installment of the Modern Warfare series and all the “balance” that is promised to come with it. Infinity Ward (or should I say Sledgehammer Games) have their work cut out for them which is not limited to reconciling with their fanbase after all the MW2 hooplah. Anyhoo, this is SIYM . . . on vacation . . . from the islands of Me-he-co . . . in all his 10th prestige glory . . . adios!

If you’ve been following the site, you should know that I’ve been posting up commentary pieces here and there about various topics.  From now on all my commentary pieces will be part of my running article series “The Courtroom,” as detailed in the Update! post.  I’ve gone ahead and renamed all my previous posts appropriately and tagged them as well.  You should have also noticed by now the other author’s have gone ahead and have been posting up weekly articles.  The schedule as of now is:

Mondays: “Laevatein’s Readan’ Sessions,” focusing on visual novels, and “Mecha Mondays,” which will begin syndication next month, focusing on mecha (duh)

Tuesdays: “LIFE Lessons,” which will begin regular syndication next month, focusing on whatever’s running through Matt’s mind

Wednesdays: “The Courtroom”

Thursdays: “Silverwolf’s Den”, focusing on comics

Fridays: “SIYM Presents,” focusing on whatever’s running through Julio’s mind (lots and lots of Mass Effect lol), “Horror Hoedown Showdown,” which will begin syndication today, focusing on horror related things

Saturdays: “Survival Sign,” by new author inverseman, will begin this Saturday and focus on Touhou, “The Second Opinion,” by new author Zerreth, will also begin this Saturday and focus on whatever Zerreth has on his mind

Sunday: “Reiko’s Ramblings,” by new author Reiko, will begin syndication next month and focus on the female gamer’s perspective, “Guovantology 101,” by shinkiro0, will begin regular syndication this Sunday and focus on MMO’s

I would like to note something about “The Courtroom.”  As the Editor-in-Chief of Moar Powah! I have other duties that require my attention.  I will try to post an article every Wednesday, but other things may prevent me from doing so. Also, I tend to get lots of ideas in my head that I usually like to share right away.  So in short, expect “The Courtroom” to appear on Wednesdays, but do not be surprised if I miss it occasionally miss one here and there and if moar than one appears per week.  In fact, expect a piece to go up very soon :D .

If you haven’t already, go ahead and check out my review of the latest Harry Potter film: Deathly Hallows Part 2. In short, I thought it was executed very well. Yeah, it didn’t exactly re-invent the series and its cinematic adaptions but the overall experience was top-notch and the performances (after 8 full-length movies!) are still as enjoyable as they were when the series began. Anyway, here’s another “pre-launch item” for ya. I think it speaks for itself. Also, I’m currently in the business of putting together a site of my own. The process has been slow but I’ll inform everyone when it goes up. Nothing breathtaking, just a good little online keepsake for all things SIYM. Enjoy!
