Here we are on a Tuesday and what are we talking about? Call of Duty, yet again…I know I am kinda bored of it too but man oh man does it rule our lives sometimes. In this post I’ll attempt a dialogue with…myself.

Matt: So what are we talking about in terms of CoD today?

Matt: MULTIPLAYER.

Matt: What about multiplayer, Matt?

Matt: Ah good question Matt…we are gonna discuss if it CoD multiplayer is dead or not.

Matt: Lovely topic Matt. Please go on. Continue reading »

I’m surprised to see that very little is being released in July, which isn’t exactly known as a beach month persay. But it could also be that most families are going on vacation so I guess that adds to it as well. Either way, here are the four biggest releases that have been heavily advertised and are the big name releases. And don’t worry, August will have plenty more in store for you!

7/3

The Amazing Spiderman

Plot: …dude, it’s freaking Spiderman. What do you think its about – circus clowns?

Pros: ITS FREAKING SPIDERMAN! More accurate to the comic Spiderman.

Cons: ….didn’t we have a Spiderman movie about a decade ago? You know, with Toby McGuire and Kirsten Dunst? I didn’t hallucinate that right? It was a real movie and all?

Verdict: Oooh, shiny! Honestly, this film looks great, and the new actors look pretty invested. I know I want to go to the movies and see it! And if its even half as good as it looks, this could be the summer where all the superhero movies are actually good!

Like Microsoft, Sony had both games and gimmicks at their conference.  On one hand, while I liked the games shown at Sony’s conference a lot more, I think Sony’s failings were a good deal more disheartening.  It’s kind of a painful conference, really, and not because it was boring.

The future is awaits! It can be yours for only $300. It slices, it dices, it’s a legitimately good idea. Or perhaps it’s got dollar signs written all over! But alas, some things in life are just not meant to be.

No, we’re not talking about the Sega Activator or the Power Glove. Those things didn’t work at all. What I’ll be addressing today will be devices that actually worked to some degree or were well ahead of their time but for some reason or another just couldn’t get off the ground.

Well, E3 2012 has come and gone, and like anyone who followed it, I have quite a few opinions on it.  But that’s no surprise; E3 is where most companies show you what they want you to see the most (for that year), and I’m sure that these companies want you to talk about their achievements, developments, reveals, and the like.  So I’ll be happy to oblige.  First off, we’re starting with Microsoft, a company that has failed to really impress at E3 the past few years.  And this year happens to be more of the same, though with a few twists.

Today I’ll be giving you my top 12 video game intros.

Honorable Mention: Darksiders

The short intro explaining the back story of the war between Heaven and Hell was great. Then to see NYC fall under attack only to have War epicly enter was even greater. Continue reading »

Last week at E3, Atlus announced that it has plans to publish Code of Princess, an “action RPG brawler” in North America this fall. This is a very unique hybrid RPG, much like Theatrhythm Final Fantasy is a unique RPG rhythm game.

Developed by members of the team that produced Guardian Heroes for the Sega Saturn, Code of Princess features four playable characters in the game’s singleplayer mode, but also lets you play as enemies and even villagers in its multiplayer mode. You can either battle with your friends or against them via local online or Nintendo’s online network. Continue reading »

On Sunday, the official website of Georide, DIGITURBO’s music label that releases the music from Nitroplus titles, confirmed on Sunday that its producer Shingo Minamino had passed away after being attacked on the street in Osaka’s Shinsaibashi district. Minamino worked on the music of Kanako Itou and Super Sonico, to name a few. Minamino was visiting Osaka to manage Sunday evening’s “Georide 5th Anniversary Special Tour 2012″ live concert event at the Osaka Muse hall near the location of the stabbing.

At about 1:00 p.m., a female passerby made an emergency phone call about a stabbing in Shinsaibashi. The police arrived on the scene and discovered a man and a woman bleeding. The suspect had attacked the man (Minamino) first, then attacked a woman in her 60s about 30 meters (about 100 feet) away, and then returned to the male victim to stab him again. The two victims were taken to a hospital, but both succumbed to their wounds.

The police arrested a 36-year-old unemployed man that they identified as Kyōzō Isohi with no fixed address. According to the police, the suspect said he did not know the two victims. He reportedly said that he was thinking of committing suicide, but would kill someone with a knife he purchased near the scene of the crime and thus be executed. According to a source in the investigation, the suspect added that anyone would have sufficed as his intended victim.

This is very sad news indeed. Mikatan’s blog (the official blog of Good Smile Company) even made reference to this incident. RIP Minamino-san. Our resident Nitroplus fan Laevatein will especially miss you.

It’s Sunday, and that means we’re in for a treat with some Horror Hoedown Showdown! Today I bring to you a super quick VN-like RPG called “Ib” (pronounced “Eeb” or “Eve”) that sent some shivers down my nerves of steel. And if you haven’t noticed, I listed this game under visual novel since, personally, I found that it felt more like a visual novel than an RPG. But anyways, without further ado, let’s dive in, itadakimasu!

We’ll start with a plot-and-stuff run through. You are a young girl named Ib, and your parents took you to an art museum for the first time. The art museum is showcasing the works of Weiss Guertena (fictional…), and while browsing his works you get sucked into the fantasy world of his art. All you have to fend for yourself is your wits and a red rose, aka your health bar. The plot on the surface is very straightforward, although as you play the game, you’ll learn tidbits of other information that add a lot of implicit plot points. But, in any case, your main goal after this is to escape back into reality, eventually with the help of your party members, Garry and Mary. Continue reading »

Now I don’t often write about sports, in fact, I’m the type that enjoys quietly from the sidelines, but even Fenrir the Neutral-On-Most-Everything cannot let this outcome slide without comment.

To those of you not in the know, last night was the scheduled boxing fight between Manny Pacquiao — the defunct hero of the Philippines whose rags-to-riches story and his winning streak has won the hearts of not only his countrymen but the boxing world– and Timothy Bradley, an (as of now) undefeated American boxer. Manny’s loss to Bradley has ended his decade’s long dominance in the boxing world, but for fans this loss leaves a bitter taste, because if my Facebook newsfeed and tumblr dashboard was any indication, not many people believe Bradley won fairly.
