Yesterday, April 29th, was the birthday of one dearly beloved idol and one not so beloved person. Person A? My favorite Korean pop star Younha, who I’ve written about before and who has sang one of my favorite songs. Person B? Our very own Jack Guo. Just kidding Jack, you know we like you too. Here’s a cute/funny picture to commemorate the occasion.
Ah, yes, Joss Whedon’s cult classic…well, one of them, the space-Western Firefly. I am going to be a very honest, and bad, Internet reviewer/fangirl and tell you all I never had any interest in this show until this year. That’s right – I had heard of the show, and it’s fans, and how it would never get a second season and it just never caught my interest.
But then a friend of mine strapped me down to a chair and forced me to watch it. Now, I love it, and I’m dying for someone to make a second season of it. But is it really as good as I think? As most of the Internet thinks?

One of the highlights of my Anime Boston 2012 experience was the chance to meet Kirk Thornton, the acclaimed voice actor who’s voiced characters like Saito (Rurouni Kenshin), Jin (Samurai Champloo), Anavel Gato (Gundam 0083), Kisame (Naruto), and Don Patch (Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo). As press, I got special access to a 1 hour panel with Mr. Thornton. I was lucky that there weren’t many other press attending the panel; however, there were two members of the One Piece Podcast, Steve and Jason. The three of us were very fortunate to listen to many of Mr. Thornton’s experiences. Without further ado, here’s the interview. Oh, and the reason it’s coming out so late is that I had to transcribe this from my voice recorder. Note to self, never transcribe a one hour interview again.
NOTE: This is really long. What did you expect? It was an hour long! Also, any grammatical mistakes by Mr. Thornton are left there on purpose, as it is the correct way of writing an interview (don’t change what the person said).
Hey guys and welcome to another exciting edition of Fantastic Feasts and Where to Find Them! This week we have an interestingly long post to detail some of the amazing food a few of us here at Moar Powah enjoyed over the weekend, which was rather beautiful by the way. Everyone on the East Coast, and all of you NYC-folk, please take advantage of this amazing weather and go outside!
So to emphasize how pretty and nice it is outside, this post is going to highlight some (sort of) light and spring-ish-summery food to help enjoy the warmer weather! (Yay!)
So it’s 2007 or 2008 and you’re some teenager in a DVD store or browsing Amazon for anime. Another month of part-time jobs and hard-earned allowance is about to vanish in a heartbeat. You take out your wallet and before your eyes is a grand box, $40 flies out of your hands either digitally or physically and here it comes. The decorated display box is filled with all sorts of trinkets. OST CDs, a shirt, a body-pillow cover, pencilboards, and even some cosplay props! Oh yeah, the DVD is there too of course, but it’s only the first four or five episodes. The empty space in the display box is lonely, begging for more, pleading for further financial transactions. Oh well. One down, three to go.
Evening, ladies and gents, the Inverseman here to talk about everyone’s favorite elephant in the room, the DVD industry. Do we need it? How have times changed? How have they stayed the same? It all starts with about five or so years ago, in an ancient time.

The only reason I am writing spoilers is because I know there actually people out there who won’t see this film until they know what it’s really about first, which is fine, and I am usually one of those people. Also, I’d like to talk about the film in-depth about what I liked and, surprisingly, didn’t like.

I do believe in a strict, straightforward, reason-driven, do what you can approach, but it’s not like I walk around everyday with an agenda. I’m human, I make mistakes just like everyone else. Chivalry is dead
Judge: In the most recent episode (16) of Fate/Zero, we see the end of dear Lancer, douche Kayneth, and love crazy Sola-Ui. This leads to yet another debate between idealistic Saber and hardass Kiritsugu. Laevatein, what do you make of all this philosophical mumbo jumbo?
Laevatein: I personally take Kiritsugu’s side of things, as quite frankly, all the speeches about pride and honor are ironically very flawed.
Judge: I too agree with Kiritsugu. I believe the problem, or disconnect per se, between these heroes of old and modern day people is just that: they’re old, we’re new. Things change. Today’s wars and battles are not glorious, not honorable. It doesn’t help that in today’s world, we have come up with new ways to kill each other: unmanned fighters, nukes, biological warfare, etc. Continue reading »
Ghosts and secret agents go together better than I ever imagined. Last month, I had the pleasure of reading Haunt Volume 1 from Image Comics. This first foray into Image’s offerings impressed me a lot, and almost immediately I scoured local comic shops for the second volume. Sadly, Volume 3 isn’t coming out for another month, but as I await my pre-order I thought I’d regale everyone with a discussion of why this second volume exceeds all expectations and is even better than the first.
