Laevatein: Hey everyone, Laevatein here!

Kaushik: Kaushik here.

Laevatein: And today, we thought we’d debate about what could happen in E3! Now Kaushik, to start, is there anything you really want to see at E3?

Kaushik: Well, for starters, I’m really looking forward to details on the Wii U. There’s a lot to learn, and a lot ot sell me on. Hopefully nintendo can knock this one out of the park for me… Though I’m not certain they will. Besides that, there’s the handhelds, 3DS and Vita. I’m expecting some more from them since they’re still relatively new to the scene.

Laevatein: Yeah, this year’s E3 seems to be make or break for the Wii U. Though I think as long as they can show they have strong third party support, it’ll be golden. I’m sure they won’t fail on first party games, what with Mario, Zelda, the new Super Smash Bros., Retro Studios, and Monolith Soft. However, considering how Nintendo’s conferences went in the past, I don’t believe we’ll see pricing. Though I don’t think they’ll show too much more of the 3DS, since that already seems to be established. Less so with the Vita.

The Mayans were right after all! No more Nintendo! Arrivederci Atlus! Bye-bye BioWare! And the end EA! The arrival of the iPhone and the Android OS have cast their destructive judgment! Just look at what so many video game news websites are saying!

Evening ladies and gentlemen, the Inverseman here again and tonight he is ready to rant. From large gaming news sites to popular opinions, there seems to be this claim of the “death of the video game console” and the “death of the handheld” forthcoming our generation. The stories range from “impending doom for dedicated gaming devices” to doom for “all of video games”. While the onset of combined technology is great, I would vouch that video games have a long way to go before they get assimilated or destroyed. Three good reasons come to mind.

Click. Wait. Drag. Drag. Click. Wait. Drag. Another night, and here he is, a young teenage boy whipping his mouse about like a lasso. His eyes feel as if the computer screen before him is sucking their squishy selves in. More clicks, broken English (why couldn’t a better group be scanlating this?). Already licensed? Website shut down? Well, there goes my evening.

I’m kind of an odd case. Back in my day, I didn’t read a lot of scanlations online, namely because back then my eyes were quite feeble. Paper and ink were much less strenuous, and I could read manga anywhere, like on my favorite spot, the toilet!

But like numerous other readers across the globe, I still want to read, and I kinda want it ASAP (as soon as published, can’t rush genius!). It’s a pain in the butt to have to deal with rushing to your local bookstore, praying they have the series you’re following, and then shelling out 9 or 11 bucks. Once you’re done reading, you then wait weeks for the next compiled volume. Okay, so online reading solves this quite nicely. Plenty of translators and scanners out there, and yet the man comes around every now and then to crash the party. Bummer dude.

So, how can we get around the man while satisfying our need for instant gratification? I see two solutions to this.

1. Get a weekly subscription to your magazine of choice. Though this hinges on whether or not you live in Japan and can read Japanese.

2. You get this magic book, which instantly speeds to you a new chapter or volume when it’s done. And if you’re like me from my teenager days, you won’t have to forfeit your eyes! Continue reading »

It's about time...

I’m a little late, but yesterday, Treyarch announced that the Black Ops map pack “First Strike” will be available on the PC this Friday March 25th for $14.99. “First Strike” was released on the Xbox 360 on February 1st and on the Playstation 3 on March 3rd. I for one am excited for “First Strike.” It’ll give me a reason to start up Black Ops again on the PC. Also, if you haven’t seen it yet, check out IGN’s Charlie Sheen Black Ops parody; it’s hilarious, trust me. Winning! Continue reading »
