If you read this article 100 times and then talk to Professor Oak, you’ll unlock the REAL way to get Mew!

Last week there was an announcement from Game Freak that they would reveal a new 6th generation Pokemon. We’ve already been treated to the starters, the mascot legends, and Sylveon the newest Eevee evolution, but today Game Freak revealed a shocking Pokemon. An as yet unnamed Pokemon that bears a high resemblance to Mewtwo, who for simplicity’s sake I’ll call Mewthree. What could be in store for us?

Silverwolf: Hello everyone! Silverwolf here today to debate the most pivotal question of all time. What is the best Pokemon generation, and why? Believe it or not, neither myself, nor the esteemed Tarabisu, have chosen Gen 1 to defend. I’m of the opinion that Black and White (aka Gen 5) is the best. Please note that I haven’t played B2 or W2 yet.

Tarabisu: Yes, it’s true. Gen 1 is remarkable in many ways, and most will likely defend its place as the king of Pokemon games. It set the precedent and began what is an incredibly resilient franchise. But I’m going to take a different opinion and argue that Gen 2, Gold and Silver, are indeed the best Pokemon games, not to mention the incredible remakes on DS they were both honored with.

Silverwolf: Actually, had this conversation been a month ago I’d totally agree with you. Gold was my favorite for the longest time, and I absolutely LOVED Heart Gold. In fact, the only Pokemon generation where I got more than one of the games was the original Gold and Silver. Recently, however, I finally got my hands on a copy of Black and gave it a whirl and found that it gave me everything I wanted in a Pokemon game and more.

Tarabisu: Interesting. To me, Black, the version I chose, felt empty and soulless in comparison to other Pokemon games. It was like a stranger wearing a mask of a friend, trying to parade around as someone I know and like. Something about the atmosphere threw me off, perhaps. I will also note that save for a few rare gems, the Pokemon to be found in Black and White are some of the strangest and least Pokemon-y Pokemon I have ever seen. Thoughts?

In b4 someone talks about Kyurem being a Nobody…

Hello Moarpowah readers, it’s good to be back in black… Two that is! Going off my earlier impressions here is my full review of Pokemon Black 2 and White 2. These are Game Freak’s first true sequels, how did the stack up? Let’s find out.

Welcome to this week’s Objection! The Moarpowah arena of debate! Tonight the Inverseman and Silverwolf discuss the future of Pokemon, will it be online?

1. Should there be a Pokemon MMO?
2. If so, what role should it have in the series? (main game, spin-off, side series etc.) If not, why?

If it somehow involves catching or contracting, breeding or fusing, you know I’m your man!

I’ve been putting this off due to my job for a while, but now I can finally turn my attention back to my “second job” or “MMO-like”, Pokemon. Earlier in the month we had the release of Pokemon Black 2 and White 2. Now that I’m about four badges in, let’s see what the game is like halfway in!

Disclaimer: No guns will be “put on” in tonight’s article. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try another game if you wish to put your guns on.

So in their first collaborative pursuit Koei and The Pokemon Company team up to bring us a tactical RPG that combines our favorite Sengoku Musou heroes and our favorite Pokemon. Let’s get hands on with it all.

Pokemon Conquest is the combination of Pokemon into Koei’s Nobunaga’s Ambition tactical RPG series albeit with a much lighter spin. The game takes place in the land of Ransei, an alternate reality where famous warriors of the sengoku era team up with Pokemon and go to war and not a Pokeball to be seen (Good for Team Plasma I suppose).

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Forget politics, apparently, this is one lesson the entertainment industry needs to learn.

Springboarding off Fenrir’s post, the resident Pokemon “expert” will lend his opinion. Okay, so you’ve got feudal era Japan and Pokemon together; how is this not a recipe for awesome? Koei and Game Freak team up to bring one tactical RPG to another RPG of great strategy. The only thing that could make this game better would be a hack-n-slash with horse-kicking (or I guess Rapidash for this case) action. It’s over the top, it’s campy, and…it’s a huge hook for an unlikely crowd.

Hey guys, Fenrir here with a really quick bite of information…

Remember a few months back when Judge made the announcement of that weird Nobonuga’s Ambition x Pokemon crossover? Remember all that speculation that it probably won’t be coming to America because the American audience doesn’t seem to appreciate tactical RPGs?

Well ladies and gents, for all you Pokemon and Warring States period fans alike, Nintendo has pulled through and just released an English trailer for their upcoming DS game: Pokemon Conquest! Unlike how there’s no word on Fire Emblem *sob*

Now the trailer that they’ve released isn’t anything terribly new and exciting; it’s all the same footage, only in English. But we have a definite release date of June 18, 2012 here in the states, just in time for summer (And summer sales)!

So what can fans really expect from this quirky foray out of the usual Pokemon spin-off series? To be quite honest: I’m not entirely too sure. I’d be happy to leave the debate open to Pokemon masters like inverseman to discuss, but based purely on what little content I’ve seen? There’s a lot to be excited about: It’s campy, it’s bright and flashy, and it’s — to quote my friend silverwolf — every second grader’s Pokemon dream. How many have you have made your own Pokemon crossovers? Pokemon with Arthurian knights? Pokemon with superheroes? This game truly is a childhood fantasy of putting Pokemon in an alternative universe a tangible reality — and it’s definitely not taking itself too seriously, either. So we have something that so far looks like it will be a fun little ride, with the fate of Japan the world left in the hands of a warlord.

In this game we’re not youths out to be the best Pokemon trainer with the power of love and friendship, we’re out to make the world bow to our knees (With some help from the powers of love and friendship, I figure).

While I may be excited, will Pokemon’s target audience (And see, there’s an E for Everyone right there on the proposed DS cover) appreciate this campy mash-up between Japanese history and portable atrocities?

We’ll just have to see — who knows, this stand-alone game could be set to conquer DS sales this summer!

Again, it’s happening. Time and space swirl around your body. You feel your stomach lurch forward as your body collapses into your navel. Life is now a suggestion as you become enveloped in rift of visual horror far too explicit for this blog. When you wake up you feel as if you were lost in another country, and yet, everything feels so similar.

Okay, did you hear that? That was freaking awesome Pokemon chiptunes right there. It all started long ago in 1996 with the Pokemon Black and White versions. Man those were the days, back when Pokemon was GOOD. But recently, I turned on the TV and I saw this crazy brand new “Pokemon Red and Green” stuff. So I checked it out and man, Pokemon is terrible now.

Okay, first of all, the mechanics are TOO complex now. I hate reusable TMs, the effort value system, and breeding. Huh? What do you mean effort values always existed? Well, if it didn’t exist when I was six, then it didn’t exist until I found out about it, like North Dakota! And what do you mean HMs can be deleted? Cut is a top tier move for any starter!

But anyway, let’s get to the important business, these new Pokemon from Japan are the worst, most unoriginal, abominations that will probably eat your kids. Continue reading »
