Quite the bodacious title, eh?

Laevatein: Greetings everyone, I’m Laevatein!

pluffei: And I’m pluffei!

Laevatein: And today, we’re going to talk about Mouretsu Pirates!

pluffei: Yeaahhh, that show. Well, we can start with you, since you like it. What are its pros?

Many cute high school girls.

Laevatein: Well, I think I’ll start by looking at the big picture. Mouretsu Pirates is a grand Space Opera with a touch of cute high school girls. Though the characterization starts off kind of weak, I think character development and dynamics are strong in the show. And the plot’s interesting, to boot. Granted, it’s not perfect, but it’s still pretty fun.

A Look Back at the 2012 Winter Anime Season

Well, since I did a preview for the winter season , I thought it’d only be fair for me to offer some closing thoughts on the winter season.  Actually, looking back at it, it’s kind of funny seeing my opinions now and my opinions then. They’ve changed less than I thought they would. While all the shows aren’t over yet, most of the shorter ones have either ended or will end this week (mostly tomorrow), so for this I’ll cover just the ones that have ended, and make a little mention of a few shows from last fall that have also ended.

This didn't air this season... Or the last, for that matter. But the last episode for Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko came out during this season, and watching it made me realize how much I liked this series, oddly enough. I'll review it sometime.

Hey, when did those assholes from that popular videogame series turn into cute girls?

This is perhaps one of the few series I’ve gone into completely blind. I knew next to nothing about this series (other than it being about pirates, IN SPACE), and out of the blue, a friend tells me I should watch it because he felt it was right up my alley. So I watched it, and after I was done, I couldn’t help but hype it to some of my close friends. I later did some research, and found out that Satelight is producing this show: they have quite a bit of experience with shows set in space. With that in mind, and the second episode watched, this is definitely a show I’m sticking with for the long run.

Preview: The Winter Anime Season

Success! This would be really really really funny if you've seen Lagrange, I'm sure. If you haven't, then it just looks stupid. It's Madoka's signature... gesture, I guess.

The fall season’s shows (the 13 episode ones at least) are over, and the 2012 winter season is upon us. So I’d like to take this opportunity to run through my first impressions of the shows I’ve seen so far. Now, I haven’t (nor will I) watch every show this season. That’s a bit beyond me. That being said, I have watched a fair bit (11 shows as of this post) and I think I can offer my opinion on their first episodes at the very least. Honestly, at the outset of this season, I wasn’t planning on watching even the eleven shows I have watched, but I came into a little bit more free time than expected, so I picked them up. Anyway, let’s begin.
