Make sure to check out our pre-launch thoughts of the film as well as our review.

Silverwolf: Hello everyone! Silverwolf here with another exciting edition of Objection! One of the big buzzes on everyone’s mind is the film The Dark Knight Rises, the final chapter in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy. Judge and I both had the chance to watch the film recently, and we’re here today to discuss our differing viewpoints. I for one thought it was a stellar film.

Judge: And I thought it was just a good film, definitely not a masterpiece and definitely the weakest of the three.

Silverwolf: I agree it wasn’t the best of the series, but it wasn’t the weakest either in my eyes. What are some of the problems you had with the movie?

Judge: Haha many things. A jumbled mess of a story, terrible pacing, some really disturbing plot holes, and fail character development, to name a few. Continue reading »

Once upon a time, when I was still a wee-child in high school, I got a call over winter vacation from a friend asking if I was interested in seeing something called The Dark Knight which I personally had heard very little about. But my friend, and others in the group, were very vocal about their need to see the film, all of them for a second time. Except me – I hadn’t even thought to see it.

Now, the phenomenon has reached its peak with the finale of the Nolan Batman films with The Dark Knight Rises. People are fighting to get tickets opening weekend, it’s on the tip of everyone’s tongues, and no one whose anyone is going to not see this movie “just cause”

But here’s the problem – will the movie experience because of all the fan enthusiasm?

Judge: Welcome to the latest edition of “Objection!” It’s been a while, and this one is coming out a day late due to me being extremely tired yesterday (and pondering about the NBA Finals). Today Silverwolf and I will be talking about which summer comic movie will be the most “successful. This is also part of my “Batman Extravaganza.” Let’s begin. As you should know, The Avengers has released to critical acclaim and huge fan support. And it’s already grossed 1.4 billion dollars. I don’t know if the The Dark Knight Rises can match it.

“Kamehameha” is a series of post where we examine various action scenes from movies, anime, and cartoons, to name a few. It’s name comes from one of the most famous special moves in Dragon Ball Z. We chose a DBZ reference because it’s the definition of an action show…minus the drawn out stare down filler.

In the Cut, Part I: Shots in the Dark (Knight) from Jim Emerson on Vimeo.
It was a few months ago that Jim Emerson first posted a video (shown above) detailing the flaws in the tunnel scene in The Dark Knight.  Many Christopher Nolan fanboys came running to his defense, saying things like “Nolan meant to shoot it like that!” or “Emerson is an idiot who is just nitpicking!” What did I have to say about this? I liked it. A lot.  I found it very intellectually stimulating.  Emerson’s analysis of the tunnel scene opened my eyes to things I hadn’t thought of or seen before.  I had always wondered why some critics found the action of The Dark Knight to be incoherent and confusing.  But after watching this video, I understood why.  It is also very ironic that a few days before this video came out, my girlfriend Pluffei watched The Dark Knight for the first time (yes you heard me correct) and told me that she found the action to be confusing.  I shrugged it off as her just getting caught up in everything going on, but after she watched this video, she gave me a big, “Ha! I’m not the only one who thinks that the action was confusing!”  Many of the things mentioned in the video were things she could not articulate herself.
