Judge here. Been out of commission this past week with a bad cold, but I’m back (somewhat). I got the chance to watch The Raid: Redemption earlier today, and let me tell you, it was the most kickass thing I’ve seen in a while. It got me thinking about the Sleeping Dogs live action trailer, which in turn got me thinking about doing a “top (insert number) live action video game trailers” list.
I’ve done a few other ones before like “Top 10 Zombie Games” and “Most Useless Pink-haired Anime Girls.” Lists are cool because 1) they’re fun, 2) they make me think about how much I value (or not value) something, and 3) they usually cause people to leave some…interesting comments. So without further ado, here’s my “Top 5 Live Action Video Game Trailers.”
Honorable Mention: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
I loved all the futuristic tech they incorporated in this trailer, but I wasn’t exactly keen in putting a military FPS in my top 5.
5. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Everything was cool about this trailer…until I saw the protagonist. No offense, but that guy doesn’t look too intimidating. He’s a stick for god’s sake. Overall, good trailer. It fooled my mom into thinking it was an actual movie.
4. Mass Effect 3
All the chaos at the start is nice. Seeing a Reaper destroy a bridge is cool. Then seeing Commander Shepherd storm in with the Normandy II flying overhead tops it all off. However, I wish we got a look at his face.
3. Metroid: Other M
I loved everything about this trailer. Samus strolling along as her past events pop up around her. Really tells a nice little story. Then she dons her armor, and gameplay from Other M ensues. Awesome.
2. Sleeping Dogs
This was in most fresh in the mind. This trailer is nothing but nonstop awesome action. It was like watching a scene from a movie.
1. Halo: Reach Deliver Hope Extended Version
Despite the Sleeping Dogs trailer being most fresh in the mind, this trailer still comes out on top. Everything about it isn’t just awesome–it’s epic! Of all the trailers, this one utilized the music the best. Beautiful. Halo movie please? A few notes: all the original members of Noble Team can be seen in this trailer. That Spartan in the end is NOT Noble Six from the game; it’s Thom-293, the previous Noble Six. Don’t know how many people I’ve seen that think it’s the Noble Six from the game. I don’t know how they could confuse the two, seeing as this was before Reach. How do you know that? Well Cat still has her right arm, duh. She loses it in this battle.
